Ilocos Empanada

One of my favorite Filipino dishes is called empanada.  It's basically a thin pocket of flour/breading stuffed with almost anything, like spiced ground pork or ham and cheese.  Almost anything even jam will do.  But my favorite type is none other than the world famous Ilocos empanada.

So a dear friend brought us these very tempting Ilocos empanada yesterday for breakfast.  Insides are mixed monggo sprouts, shredded papaya, ilocos longganisa and a whole egg fried into perfection.  Some prefer eating this with vinegar but it's absolutely heaven with or without it.  You can spot a lot of Ilocos empanada in the metro, no need to travel all the way to Vigan.  There are stalls found on Sunday markets and even night food bazaars.  This one is particularly bought in Farinas empanada, located in West ave branch.  Can't wait for our next empanada treat :)
